One Dead after Semi-Truck Collision in Normal Heights

SAN DIEGO, CA (March 11, 2022) – Early Friday morning, a woman was fatally struck in a big-rig crash on Interstate 15.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened around 2:20 a.m., in the area of Normal Heights and Kensington.

Per reports, a truck driver lost control and the semi-truck jackknifed on the rain slicked freeway. As a result, the large trailer swung out to the side, blocking multiple northbound lanes.

Shortly after, a 76-year-old woman driving a white Honda CRV hit the truck after failing to stop. The collision left the Honda lodged underneath the trailer.

Firefighters arrived and took at least 40 minutes to extricate the elderly woman from the severely damaged vehicle.

Due to the extent of her condition, the female driver succumbed to her injuries after being transported to a hospital a short time later.

Meanwhile, the truck driver remained uninjured. Although, authorities have not yet released their name or place of residency.

At this time, San Diego Officials are still currently investigating the deadly crash on Interstate 15.
