2 Injured in Two-Vehicle Collision on Interstate 5 [Redding, CA]

Truck Crash near Hilltop Drive Left Two Hurt

REDDING, CA (March 8, 2022) – On Tuesday, two Caltrans workers were injured in a two-vehicle collision on Interstate 5, authorities said.

The crash occurred in the northbound lanes of Interstate 5, just north of Hilltop Drive around 1:00 p.m.

Furthermore, according to the authorities, a Caltrans vehicle was preforming cleanup operations along the right shoulder when, for unknown reasons, a box truck rear-ended the Caltrans truck.

Eventually, the Caltrans vehicle continued forward, colliding with a worker on the roadside.

Consequently, paramedics then took the 25-year-old Anderson worker to Mercy Medical Center for treatment of serious injuries.

Meanwhile officials also brought the Caltrans truck’s driver, a 66-year-old man from Bella Vista, to a nearby hospital.

Police said the box truck’s driver, a 40-year-old man from Sacramento, refused hospitalization.
