35-Year-Old Man Killed in Deadly Crash near Main Street
JAMESTOWN, CA (March 3, 2022) – Friday night, police identified Robert Campbell as the driver involved in a fatal accident on Highway 108.
Officers responded to the scene around 6:40 p.m. For reasons unknown, the pedestrian entered the eastbound lane of traffic just east of Main Street.
The man walked directly in front of an oncoming 2022 Chevrolet pickup-truck driven by Campbell, of Modesto. Campbell was unable to stop in time, and hit the pedestrian.
Medical personnel transported the severely injured pedestrian to Adventist Health Sonora. However, the 35-year-old male victim from Sonora, later succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.
At this time, the deceased victim’s identity remains withheld pending notification of his family.
Following investigations, officers believed that neither drugs nor alcohol played a factor in the crash. Although, an active investigation continues.
This incident marked the third traffic-related fatality along Highway 108 in the Jamestown area since January.
