Pedestrian Seriously Injured in DUI Crash on Plumas Street
YUBA CITY, CA (March 1, 2022) – Authorities arrested 25-year-old Rachel Medlin after a hit-and-run accident on Bridget Street, Wednesday.
The incident occurred shortly before 11:00 a.m., at the intersection of Bridge and Plumas Street.
Per reports, Medlin was driving and struck a pedestrian. Upon impact, Medlin fled the scene without stopping and rendering aid to the severely injured victim.
A witness from the scene gave officers a description of the vehicle and its driver. A Sutter County sheriff’s deputy then spotted the suspect vehicle and Medlin in the 3000 block of Walton Avenue, a few miles from the crash site.
Paramedics transported the pedestrian to Adventist Health and Rideout Hospital with serious but non life-threatening injuries.
Following preliminary investigations, authorities discovered that Medlin had been under the influence of illegal narcotics. As a result, officers arrested her for DUI, hit-and-run, and driving without a valid license.
Eventually, authorities booked the DUI driver into the Sutter County Jail.
