22-Year-Old Bicyclist Fatally Struck in Deadly Collision on Oregon Avenue

LONG BEACH, CA (February 24, 2022) – Friday morning, 22-year-old Ayomipo Lawal was killed in a bicycle accident on 17th Street.

According to the police, the crash occurred around 7:42 a.m., near the area of 17th Street and Oregon Avenue.

Investigators later said that a city employee was heading south and struck a cyclist who failed to stop at the intersection’s stop sign.

Long Beach police and fire personnel arrived and eventually pronounced the cyclist dead at the scene.

Meanwhile, the involved driver remained on site and cooperated with the investigation. Police only described the driver as a 59-year-old Long Beach city employee.

At this time, Long Beach officials continue to investigate the deadly bicycle accident.
