67-Year-Old Pedestrian Fatally Struck in Deadly Accident near 47th Place
LOS ANGELES, CA (February 22, 2022) – Thursday, Jose Rangel was killed and Cristian Sanchez was arrested after a collision on Main Street.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the crash occurred around 2:15 p.m., near South Main Street and 47th Place.
Per reports, Sanchez was driving a stolen Amazon Delivery truck on Main Street when he lost control near 47th Place. He then drove onto the sidewalk, crashing it into a building and three nearby pedestrians.
Two of the pedestrians suffered minor injuries, while the third was immediately killed. Authorities identified the deceased man as 67-year-old Rangel, who worked as a food vendor.
After the impact, the suspect fled the scene on foot. However, several bystanders followed him and contacted 911.
An LAPD helicopter responded and found the suspect in the area of 51st Street and Broadway, before taking him into custody. Eventually, officers arrested 37-year-old Cristian Ramos Sanchez and booked him for suspicion of felony hit-and-run.
Moreover, officials set Sanchez’s bail to $85,000. At this time, Los Angeles authorities continue to investigate the deadly collision.
