David Romero, Joseph Person Airlifted after Head-On Crash on Highway 154 [Los Olivos, CA]
2 Hospitalized after Two-Vehicle Collision near Foxen Canyon Road
LOS OLIVOS, CA (February 8, 2022) – Thursday night, David Romero and Joseph Person were hurt in a head-on crash on Highway 154.
First responders received reports of the accident around 6:30 p.m., just west of Foxen Canyon Road.
California Highway Patrol officers said 27-year-old Romero, of Lompoc was heading west on the freeway in a 2003 Pontiac.
For reasons unknown, his vehicle drifted into the eastbound lane. As a result, the Pontiac collided head-on into a 2019 Honda, driven by 36-year-old Person, of Santa Barbara.
Romero and Person both sustained major injuries upon the impact. Medics later airlifted them to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital for further treatment.
Authorities closed down a portion of Highway 154 during cleanup and preliminary duties before it was later reopened. At this time, it is unknown whether drugs or alcohol were involved in the crash.
