Nine Dead after Multi-Vehicle Crash on Cheyenne Avenue [Las Vegas, NV]

Multiple Killed in Fatal Multi-Car Collision on Civic Center Drive

LAS VEGAS, NV (February 4, 2022) – Saturday, nine people were killed in a multi-vehicle crash on Cheyenne Avenue.

The deadly incident occurred at the intersection of Civic Center Drive and Cheyenne Avenue around 3:00 p.m.

For reasons unknown, 59-year-old Gary Dean Robinson was driving a Dodge Charger at a high rate of speed and ran a red light at the intersection. As a result, he struck multiple passing vehicles.

Upon impact, some of the vehicles were pushed off the road into a vacant lot.

Reports indicate that six vehicles and 15 individuals were involved in the deadly collision. Due to the extent of injuries sustained, medics eventually pronounced nine people dead.

Moreover, seven victims were traveling together in a Toyota Sienna at the time of the crash.

Crews later identified them as North Las Vegas residents Fernando Yeshua Mejia, 5; Adrian Zacarias, 10; Lluvia Daylenn Zacarias, 13; Bryan Axel Zacarias, 15; Gabriel Mejia-Barrera, 23; David Mejia-Barrera, 25; and Jose Zacarias-Caldera, 35.

Additionally, the intersection remained closed Sunday as crews investigated and cleared the crash scene. Further factors and circumstances surrounding the crash remain under active investigation at this time.
