Two Injured in Rollover Crash near Highway 165 in Merced
MERCED, CA (January 25, 2022) – Late Monday afternoon, Paula Gomez and Ryan Williams were hurt in a car accident on Highway 140.
California Highway Patrol responded to the crash at the intersection of Highway 140 and Highway 165 just after 4:38 p.m.
Officers say Williams was driving west on Highway 140 in a 1999 Dodge 3500 pickup-truck that was towing a horse trailer.
The right side of the truck was struck by a southbound 2005 Honda Civic at the intersection. Witnesses say the Honda driver failed to stop at the stop sign and was traveling at an estimated 60 mph.
Upon arriving, officers discovered the overturned Honda Civic that left its driver, 60-year-old Gomez, of Winton, with major arm and leg injuries. Responders transported her to a nearby hospital in Modesto for treatment.
Meanwhile, 42-year-old Williams, of Delhi complained of pain but refused medical treatment, police said. At this time, the collision remains under investigation.
Neither drugs nor alcohol appear to be a factor in the accident. Once available, further details will be provided.
