38-Year-Old Man Dead after Pedestrian Collision on Interstate 80
FAIRFIELD, CA (January 25, 2022) – Tuesday evening, Jesus Zuniga was killed in a pedestrian crash near Texas Street.
The deadly collision happened in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 80 around 9:35 p.m. Dispatchers responded to the scene shortly after.
According to reports, Zuniga was attempting to cross the highway on foot when the driver of a Chevrolet Camaro struck him at an unknown rate of speed.
Eventually, paramedics arrived at the scene and transported Zuniga to a local hospital for treatment of critical injuries. However, medics later pronounced Zuniga dead at the hospital due to the extent of his condition.
Meanwhile, the events leading up to the deadly incident remain unclear at this time. The 33-year-old man driving the Camaro did not report any injuries as a result of the collision.
