Man in Wheelchair Struck and Killed by Vehicle on Lotus Lane

BAKERSFIELD, CA (January 21, 2022) – Sunday night, a man in his wheelchair died in a pedestrian crash on Lotus Lane.

Bakersfield Police Department responded to the scene just after 9:00 p.m., near Watts Drive and Lotus Lane.

Upon arrival, authorities located a man who had sustained serious injuries, laying in the roadway. However, the events leading up to the collision remain unclear.

According to reports, paramedics transported the unidentified man to a local hospital. Eventually, the male pedestrian succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.

Meanwhile, the driver of the involved vehicle remained at the scene and cooperated with police investigation.

At this time, drugs, alcohol, or speed appear to be factors in the fatal collision. Although, the victim’s identity has not yet been released pending notification of next of kin.
