44-Year Old Woman Fatally Struck on Pomelo Drive
VISTA, CA (January 19, 2022) – Friday evening, Lucille Martinez was killed in a pedestrian crash on Pomelo Drive.
The fatal collision happened around 9:30 p.m., just south of Hacienda Drive. Emergency crews responded to the scene shortly after.
According to reports, 44-year-old Martinez was walking on Pomelo Drive when the driver of a Hyundai Elantra sedan struck her. However, the circumstances leading up to the incident remain unclear.
Medics responded to the scene and took Martinez to Escondido’s Palomar Medical Center in critical condition. Despite life-saving efforts, she later died due to the extent of her injuries.
Meanwhile, the Hyundai Elantra driver stayed on the scene and worked with investigators. Authorities did not consider him to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
