Man Pronounced Dead after Big-Rig Collision near South Palo Verde Road
TUCSON, AZ (January 19, 2022) – Wednesday, 46-year-old Clay Gerald Turner was killed in a semi-truck accident near Valencia Road.
The collision took place near the intersection of Valencia and South Palo Verde Road.
Per reports, Turner was driving a 2007 Chrysler Sebring and attempted to turn left from from eastbound Valencia to northbound Palo Verde. There, the Chrysler collided with a westbound 18-wheeler semi-truck.
Due to the extent of injuries sustained, medics declared Turner dead at the scene.
Meanwhile, the semi-truck driver in his 40’s, obtained non-serious injuries and as per the evaluation of the authorities, showed no signs of impairment.
Investigators also say Turner was not wearing a seatbelt when the crash happened. Furthermore, both eastbound and westbound traffic had green lights at the time.
Officers say the inability to yield when making a left turn was a key contributing factor in the incident. The inquiry is still underway, but no citations or arrests are expected.
