Sharon Gamble Killed, Danielle Cruz and Kenneth Weikle Hurt in Car Crash on State Route 525 [Island County, WA]
77-Year-Old Woman Dies in Head-On Collision near Campbell Road
ISLAND COUNTY, WA (January 6, 2022) – Saturday afternoon, 77-year-old Sharon Gamble was killed in a car crash on State Route 525.
The incident occurred around 1:00 p.m., on the southbound lanes of State Route 525 near Campbell Road.
Per reports, 39-year-old Danielle Cruz of Lynnwood, was driving north on the highway in a black 2017 Ford XPL.
For reasons unknown, Cruz crossed the center line and struck a southbound 2010 Mercedes Benz E-350. The Mercedes was driven by 78-year-old Kenneth Weikle, of Everett.
Paramedics rushed Weikle to Providence Hospital with serious injuries. His passenger, Gamble from Everett was pronounced dead by medics, due to the extent of her condition.
Meanwhile, responding crews found the Ford driver outside her vehicle, and medics also took her to Harborview Medical Center in critical condition.
In addition, the Ford Explorer caught fire after the accident.
At this time, officers said alcohol or drugs may also have been a factor. However, the collision remains under investigation.
