3 Arrested after Pursuit Ends in Crash on Carquinez Bridge [Martinez, CA]
Police Pursuit Results in Crash on Carquinez Bridge, Left One Person Injured, 3 Arrested
MARTINEZ, CA (December 7, 2021) – 3 people arrested and at least one sustain injuries after a pursuit ends in a crash on Carquinez Bridge.
The incident happened around 8:52 p.m. last Tuesday, in the area of Carquinez Bridge near I-80.
According to police, they attempted to stop an Audi that was allegedly driving recklessly at speeds of up to 120 mph.
When the motorist did not yield, the deputy began a vehicle pursuit. The chase ultimately came to a stop just before the bridge.
Per reports, the driver of the Audi appears to have lost control as it approached the bridge, colliding with another car. Then both vehicles caught fire.
Police later arrested three suspects, who exited the Audi and tried to flee eastbound on foot across the bridge. The suspects were taken into the Martinez Detention Facility on charges of felony evading, reckless driving, and resisting arrest.
Meanwhile, the driver of the other vehicle sustained minor injuries and officers did not release if he was hospitalized or treated at the scene.
At this time, Martinez police continue to investigate the accident.
