1 Dead, Woman and 5 Children Injured in Collision near Weldon Avenue
FRESNO, CA (November 29, 2021) – A crash along Piedra Road claimed the life of Rodney Wafford Saturday night.
The fatal incident occurred around 5:15 p.m. near Avocado Lake along Piedra Road and Weldon Avenue.
According to reports, a good Samaritan was trying to pull up a truck in a ditch. As he was standing outside of the vehicle, a car crashed into his tractor on a dark road.
Due to the impact of the collision, the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. Meanwhile, the 41-year-old woman and 5 children inside the car sustained non life-threatening injuries.
Investigators later determined that a driver fell into a ditch and went to a neighbor’s house to ask for help. Afterwards, that neighbor came with a tractor and attempted to extricate the fallen truck when the accident occurred.
Authorities eventually identified the deceased victim as 56-year-old Rodney Wafford.
