Multi-Vehicle Collision near Salem Avenue Left One Fatality
KINGS COUNTY, CA (November 22, 2021) – On Saturday, an unidentified 74-year-old man lost his life in a multi-car crash on Dairy Avenue.
The incident happened shortly after 8:00 a.m. on Dairy Avenue near Salem Avenue, south of Corcoran.
According to CHP, the 74-year-old man was operating a Caterpillar backhoe along a dirt road when the driver moved along the side of Dairy and was hit by an approaching semi-truck.
The Caterpillar flipped as a result of the incident, ejecting the 74-year-old man. Soon after, another motorist in a trash truck collided with both the semi-truck and the Caterpillar tractor.
Officers on the scene pronounced the 74-year-old man deceased.
Meanwhile, medics sent the semi-truck driver, 35, to Kaweah Health Medical Center with minor injuries. The third motorist, on the other hand, escaped unharmed.
According to investigators, the likely cause of the incident is poor visibility due to fog conditions in the region. However, an active investigation to determine details is underway.
