Tragic Collision on Willow Avenue Kills 8-Year-Old Girl; Juan Del Toro Arrested
FRESNO, CA (November 16, 2021) – On Friday night, police arrested 24-year-old Juan Del Toro after a tragic car crash on Willow Avenue that caused the death of an 8-year-old girl.
Officers responded at the scene around 10:00 p.m. in the area of N. Willow Avenue & N. Friant Road.
According to the CHP, the 82-year-old man riding a Toyota RAV4 on the freeway, struck the 8-year-old girl when she escaped from the vehicle of her mother.
Initial investigations revealed a 22-year-old woman, driving a Toyota north on Friant, stopped off the road.
Subsequently, the woman’s child stepped out of the Sequoia and walked into the path of an incoming Toyota RAV4.
Paramedics performed life-saving attempts but, unfortunately, declared the 8-year-old girl dead at the scene.
Furthermore, officials learned that the heavy fog also contributed to the crash.
At this time, officials withheld the name of the deceased child due to their age. And police also tagged the RAV4 driver as an innocent driver, and he cooperated with the investigations.
Authorities eventually arrested Del Toro on domestic violence charges and placed him into Fresno County Jail.
On the other hand, police also charged the child’s mom on suspicion of misdemeanor DUI.
