Kanoelani Kirksey Arrested after Deadly Hit-and-Run Collision near Emerald Drive
SAN DIEGO, CA (November 12, 2021) – Police arrested a woman Sunday after a hit-and-run on State Route 78 that claimed the life of Courtney Dyar.
According to the CHP, the incident occurred around 5:45 a.m., on the westbound lanes of the highway near Emerald Drive.
Investigators claimed that a westbound white Volkswagen sedan struck a person walking in the main lanes of the freeway. Eventually, paramedics responded and declared 27-year-old Courtney Dyar dead at the scene.
According to the Medical Examiner’s Office, Dyar walked around a road construction sign to the westbound lanes before a vehicle struck her.
Later on, the CHP located and arrested 24-year-old Kanoelani Kirksey for felony hit-and-run and other related charges.
San Diego Officials are asking anyone with information about the hit-and-run to contact CHP at 760-643-3400.
