Woman Dead, One Injured in Crash on Highway 680 [San Jose, CA]
Wrong-Way Crash on Highway 680 Left 1 Fatality, At Least 2 Injured
SAN JOSE, CA (November 4, 2021) – Sunday morning, a 50-year-old woman was killed in a wrong-way crash on Highway 680.
California Highway Patrol said the collision happened shortly after 5 a.m., when a woman driving a Nissan sedan was heading northbound on southbound I-680 near Berryessa Road.
The Nissan driver hit an oncoming vehicle head-on, causing the other car to veer off and strike another vehicle.
Due to the impact of the collision, one woman died at the scene. In addition, one victim inside the second car was taken to a hospital with major injuries.
Moreover, a passenger inside the third car suffered minor injuries. Although, their identity has not yet been provided.
The CHP issued a SigAlert at 5:39 a.m. and all southbound lanes were blocked. All lanes reopened on southbound Interstate Highway 680 near Berryessa Road nearly three hours after the incident.
