Fatal Pedestrian Accident near Percheron Drive in Sacramento
SACRAMENTO, CA (November 2, 2021) – Friday evening, an unidentified pedestrian was fatally struck by a deputy on Franklin Boulevard.
Around 10:43 p.m., emergency crews responded to calls regarding a serious pedestrian accident in the area.
Per reports, the pedestrian was standing at the intersection near Percheron Drive. Two witnesses said the pedestrian was in the middle of the road with their back facing oncoming traffic.
There, a deputy with the Rio Cosumnes Correctional Center was driving in a sheriff’s patrol vehicle, and hit the pedestrian. The deputy offered the pedestrian medical aid until first responders arrived.
Paramedics transported the severely injured pedestrian to a local hospital for further treatment. After being in critical condition throughout the night, the pedestrian succumbed to their injuries the next day.
The California Highway Patrol and the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office are still investigating the crash. At this time, no further details have been released.
