18-Year-Old Man Dead after High-Speed Collision on Saticoi Street in Van Nuys
VAN NUYS, CA (October 29, 2021) – Officials arrested Luis Carrillo Castaneda after crashing into a store, killing one and injuring several others.
On Sunday evening, Carrillo-Castaneda was driving recklessly when he sped up and lost control of a 2007 Black Chevy Tahoe. Officers arrived to the scene around 8:00 p.m.
As a result, the vehicle turned to avoid a bus and consequently crashed into a building on the southwest corner of Woodley Avenue and Saticoi Street.
Due to the impact of the crash, first responders declared one woman in her late twenties dead at the scene. In addition, several others were injured.
Moreover, the surrounding area near 7557 Woodley Avenue was closed during cleanup and preliminary duties.
Authorities later identified that suspect as 18-year-old Luis Carrillo Castaneda, of Los Angeles. At this time, Van Nuys officials are currently investigating the fatal crash.
