Tyson Popejoy-Farrell, Miranda Garrett Arrested after Car Chase on Palacio Drive [Redding, CA]

Injuries Reported, Drugs and Ammunition Found after Police Chase in Redding

REDDING, CA (October 26, 2021) – Tyson Popejoy-Farrell and Miranda Garrett were arrested, and two were hurt in a car chase on Palacio Drive.

Police received reports of a suspicious vehicle parked in a residential neighborhood around 11:17 a.m., on Friday morning.

Upon officer’s arrival, 26-year-old Popejoy-Farrell, and 25-year-old Garrett were found sleeping in a parked golden GMC Envoy while holding knives in their hands.

Officers then opened the driver door and woke up Popejoy-Farrell, and asked him to drop the knife. However, Popejoy pointed his knife towards the officers upon waking up. He began maneuvering the car for an escape, causing one officer minor injuries.

A CHP Air Operations helicopter was able to locate the vehicle shortly after. This led to another car chase that culminated at the intersection of Palacio Drive and Shasta View Drive.

Popejoy-Farrell had failed to stop at a stop sign and broadsided a white Ford F-150 pickup-truck. The male driver of the Ford, 68, and female passenger, 62, sustained minor injuries.

The hit-and-run drivers attempted to flee again on foot. However, officers later detained them. In addition, officers found ammunition, stolen property, and drug paraphernalia inside their vehicle.

Authorities later found out they had active felony warrants. Their current charges are pending.
