Semi Truck Collision on Interstate 15 Kills One Man, Injured 2 Others
BARSTOW, CA (October 21, 2021) – A 24-year-old man died tragically Thursday morning following a semi truck collision on Interstate 15.
The fatal collision occurred just after 5:00 a.m. on Interstate 15, about 30 miles north of Barstow.
According to the CHP, the 24-year-old man and two other men were driving on Interstate 15 in a 2022 Kia when they attempted to overtake a semi-truck on the right side of the road. The Kia collided with another semi-truck stopped on the shoulder for unknown reasons.
The 24-year-old male was thrown out the back window and landed on Interstate 15 as a result of the accident. He was then hit by the semi-truck that they were attempting to pass.
Responding officers declared the 24-year-old man dead at the scene. Meanwhile, medics took the other two men to Barstow Community Hospital with minor injuries.
CHP investigators are now looking into the possible cause of the crash. Alcohol and drugs were not factors in the collision, officers said.
