70-Year-Old Pedestrian Injured in Crash on 48th Street in Tempe
TEMPE, AZ (October 19, 2021) – Monday morning, a jogger was hospitalized after a pedestrian accident on Baseline Road.
Around 7:30 a.m., officers responded to the scene in the area of 48th Street and Baseline Road after receiving multiple dispatch calls.
The driver of a Ford Flex was speeding along Baseline Road when they struck a work truck that was heading west. As a result, the work truck veered right and collided with a Valley Metro bus.
In addition, the Flex continued before striking a curb and tipping over on its side. It kept moving along the sidewalk before eventually hitting the 70-year-old jogger.
Paramedics took to pedestrian to a nearby hospital for further treatment of serious injuries.
Police say the driver of the Ford Flex showed signs of impairment and was arrested on charges of aggravated assault. However, their identity has not yet been released.
The drivers of the other vehicles suffered non life-threatening injuries. No further details have been released about the pedestrian accident on Baseline Road.
