Woman Dies, Boy Injured in Pedestrian Accident on Washington Avenue [Escondido, CA]
45-Year-Old Woman Killed in Pedestrian Collision on Rose Street
ESCONDIDO, CA (October 15, 2021) – Tuesday afternoon, a woman was killed and a boy was hurt in a pedestrian accident on Washington Avenue.
The collision occurred around 12:30 p.m., at the intersection of Washington Avenue and Rose Street. Police responded to the scene shortly after receiving multiple dispatch calls in the area.
According to reports, a red Nissan Titan pickup-truck drove through a red light while heading west on Washington Avenue. There, the driver struck a blue Ford Fusion that was heading north on Rose Street.
Upon impact, one of the vehicles veered off the road and struck a 45-year-old woman and a 7-year-old boy. They were crossing the street on Washington Avenue at the time.
Paramedics responded and took the woman and boy to Palomar Medical Center, where the woman was pronounced dead.
In addition, the young boy was said to be suffering from non life-threatening injuries.
At this time, it is currently unknown whether or not the Nissan driver will face chargers. However, an active investigation is still underway.
