Multiple Vehicle Struck and Killed Driver after Collision on Highway 99
MERCED COUNTY, CA (October 14, 2021) – Police are investigating a collision on Highway 99 in Merced County that left one driver killed.
The fatal incident occurred around 1:25 a.m., when a Dodge Ram veered across the center median on Highway 99. Dispatchers arrived just north of Shanks Road.
Afterwards, the southbound vehicle went onto the northbound lanes and overturned, throwing the driver of the vehicle.
According to the CHP responders, four vehicles struck the driver who was thrown from the vehicle after the crash.
Unfortunately, medical personnel declared the driver dead at the scene.
Meanwhile, the other drivers involved remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigators.
Merced County Officials are working to identify the circumstances surrounding the fatal collision on Highway 99.
