1 Killed, 3 Injured in Crash on Valley Parkway [Escondido, CA]
Valley Parkway Traffic Crash Left One Person Killed and 3 Others Injured
ESCONDIDO, CA (October 5, 2021) – A deadly crash on Valley Parkway claimed the life of one person and left 3 others hospitalized last Wednesday.
The incident occurred around 11:43 p.m. on Valley Parkway, just south of Claudan Road.
According to the CHP, an Escondido teen driving a 2000 Honda Prelude veered to the right and left side of the road for unknown reasons.
Subsequently, the Prelude collided with a raised curb before striking a light pole and a tree.
Later on, the investigators revealed that the vehicle was driven by a 17-year-old along with 4 other passengers. Authorities later identified the other occupants as another 17 -year-old boy, 2 18-year-old boys, and a 20-year-old man.
Eventually, the first responders arrived at the scene and pronounced the 20-year-old man dead at the scene.
Meanwhile, paramedics transported the 3 other injured occupants to Palomar Medical Center with major injuries. The last passenger also sustained major injuries and was taken to Sharp Memorial Hospital.
Investigators ruled out intoxication as a factor that contributed to the crash.
In the end, Escondido officials closed down the southbound lane of Valley Parkway until 2:30 a.m. for preliminary investigations.
