Separate Collisions on Interstate 680 Kills Two
EAST BAY, CA (September 30, 2021) – A pedestrian and a driver lost their life in two different collisions on Interstate 680 last Sunday in East Bay.
The incident happened around 7:50 p.m., officers responded at southbound I-680 after receiving reports of a pedestrian versus car collision.
As per reports, a white Toyota sedan struck the pedestrian who was in the roadway, for still unknown reasons. Medics declared the pedestrian dead at the scene.
Meanwhile, the driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with the authorities.
Earlier in the day, at around 10:45 a.m., also along the southbound I-680, a solo-car crash took place. Officials stated that a small dark-colored sedan, for unknown reasons, driver erratically along the road then veered off the freeway and down the hillside.
Emergency crews responded and later pronounced the driver dead at the scene. At this time, both of the deceased victims’ identities were withheld pending notification of their kin.
CHP continues to ask anyone with information to reach CHP’s Contra Costa bureau at 925-646-4980 for the Martinez collision, or the Dublin bureau at 925-828-0466 for the Pleasanton collision.
