1 Dead in Head-On Collision on State Route 49 [Nevada County, CA]

Head-On Collision on State Route 49 Kills 1 and Injured 2

NEVADA COUNTY, CA (September 30, 2021) – One man lost his life and two other people sustained injuries Sunday afternoon after a head-on collision on State Route 49.

The accident happened around 12:40 p.m. September 26, in the area of State Route 49 at Rincon Way north of Auburn.

According to the CHP, a Honda Accord male driver was driving southbound when, for reasons unknown, crossed over double yellows, crashing head-on into a northbound Volkswagen SUV.

As a result of the crash, the female SUV driver sustained moderate injuries, responding officers declared the male passenger in the SUV dead at the scene.

Meanwhile, medics located the man driving the Accord with non-life-threatening injuries.

At this time, officials did not release their identities and current conditions.

Moreover, police closed off the area for several hours for cleanup and investigation.

Following the investigation, police did not consider drugs and alcohol to be factors in the crash. However, an active investigation is underway.
