Police Continue to Search for Cedar Avenue Hit-and-Run Driver

FRESNO, CA (September 29, 2021)  An unidentified man died after a fatal hit-and-run crash on Cedar Avenue last Friday near a fire station in Fresno.

The crash occurred shortly after 7:30 p.m. on Cedar Avenue and just south of Butler Avenue.

According to reports, a dark-colored vehicle traveling south struck the man in his 50s who was crossing Cedar in front of Fire Station No. 8. Police confirmed that the man was not walking through a marked crosswalk.

Responding officers took the man to a nearby hospital, where he died the next day as a result of his injuries.

Meanwhile, the driver of the car did not stop and continued to flee along Cedar Avenue, heading south.

At this time, it is unknown whether speed, drugs, or alcohol played a role in the crash. However, an active investigation is underway.
