Corona Fiery Collision Caused Major Traffic on 91 Freeway

CORONA, CA (September 29, 2021) – A fiery collision on 91 Freeway caused a traffic backup on Saturday afternoon.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened shortly after 4:00 p.m. on the eastbound side of 91 Freeway west of Main Street.

A witness told a CHP dispatcher that one vehicle rear-ended another, triggering an explosion.

The Corona Fire Department arrived to the area, although it was not immediately clear if anyone was wounded.

Officials issued a SigAlert, and closed the eastbound number one lane and the right toll lane, causing considerable traffic congestion on both sides of the motorway.

At this time, authorities have not yet released a description of the vehicle involved. However, an active investigation remains ongoing.
