Luis Marcial Diaz Arrested after Fatal DUI Collision near Irvine Center Drive

IRVINE, CA (September 28, 2021) – Early Monday morning, a DUI driver struck and killed Kyu Chen in a crash on Sand Canyon Avenue.

The fatal accident happened around 4:10 a.m., at the intersection of Sand Canyon and Irvine Center Drive.

According to reports, Chen was driving a Toyota Prius when she collided with Mercedes Benz. However, the events leading up to the crash remain unclear.

Officers responded to the scene and arrested 21-year-old Luis Marcial Diaz, of Irvine on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs. He was the driver of the Mercedes, according to CHP.

Due to the impact of the crash, 61-year-old Chen, of Irvine was later pronounced dead.

At this time, no further information has been released. Although, an active investigation is still currently underway.
