One Killed in Fatal Hit-and-Run Car Crash on Highway 99
CHICO, CA (September 23, 2021) – One woman tragically died Tuesday morning after a hit-and-run crash on Highway 99 in Chico.
The crash took place at Highway 99 just south of Cohasset Road at around 7:55 a.m., September 21.
According to CHP, the woman, driving a 2006 white Toyota Scion, was heading northbound. Furthermore a white van changed lanes to pass the woman before changing back into the first lane, directly in front of the Toyota.
Subsequently, the woman steered to the right to avoid the white van in front. And as a result, the Toyota lost control and left the roadway on the right side of the highway and hit a tree before rolling over.
Responding officers pronounced the woman dead at the scene. Meanwhile, the officers described the van as a white panel van with no side windows and with paper plates.
The CHP continue to ask anyone with information about the driver of the van to contact CHP Chico.
At this time, authorities have not released to the identities of the victims involved. Once available, more information will be released.
