Christopher Alonzo Arrested after Rollover Crash on State Route 85 [Buckeye, AZ]
Child Killed, 5 Seriously Injured in DUI Accident near Milepost 153
BUCKEYE, AZ (September 16, 2021) – Saturday afternoon, 35-year-old Christopher Alonzo was arrested after a rollover crash on State Route 85.
Around 3:30 p.m., police responded to reports of a serious collision near Buckeye.
Officers say Alonzo drifted to the left side of the road, crossing multiple lanes. The car then began to spin right before crossing a canal and rolling over.
A woman in the passenger seat, as well as five children were inside the vehicle. The woman was not wearing a seat belt, and was thrown from the vehicle. She required transportation to a nearby hospital.
In addition, the children were taken to Phoenix Children’s Hospital. However, one child was pronounced dead due to the extent of their injuries.
Following investigations, three children reported that the parents were physically striking each other in the car. In addition, the children said that the parents had been drinking.
As a result, Christopher Alonzo was arrested on five counts of endangerment, five counts of aggravated assault, and one count of reckless manslaughter.
