Sung Dae Kang Killed in Motorcycle Crash on Highway 150 [Ventura, CA]
Motorcyclist Fatally Struck in Semi-Truck Collision near Rameli Ranch Road
VENTURA, CA (September 7, 2021) – Wednesday afternoon, a motorcycle crash involving a semi-truck on Highway 150 took the life of Sung Dae Kang.
The fatal incident occurred around 2:40 p.m., along Highway 150 near Rameli Ranch Road. Dispatchers arrived to the 5500 block of Casitas Pass Road shortly after.
According to a press release, Kang was riding a 2018 Aprilia Tuono V4 motorcycle east on Highway 150. Meanwhile, 53-year-old Robert Gardner was heading west on the highway in a semi-truck.
As the two vehicles approached each other, Kang lost control of his motorcycle and drifted over the double yellow lines. He then slammed into the side of the Peterbilt semi-truck.
A landing zone was being set up near the scene of the crash to airlift the severely injured motorcyclist to a nearby hospital. However, 35-year-old Sung Dae Kang of Oxnard, was pronounced dead at the scene.
In addition, Gardner remained unharmed.
CHP shut down both directions of Highway 150 for a brief time during cleanup and preliminary duties.
