Motorcyclist Ejected after Striking CHP Officer on Interstate 5 [San Diego, CA]
Injuries Reported after Collision near Via De La Valle in San Diego
SAN DIEGO, CA (September 7, 2021) – Tuesday afternoon on August 31, a motorcyclist was ejected after striking a CHP officer on Interstate 5.
The collision occurred around 4:20 p.m., on the southbound lanes of the highway. Dispatchers arrived to the scene near Via De La Valle.
According to the authorities, an officer was returning to his vehicle which had stopped in the center median. There, the biker lost control of his 2000 Harley-Davidson and swerved left, striking the concrete center divider and then the officer.
Both the motorcyclist and the officer suffered injuries. Ambulances transported both parties to hospitals for further treatment.
According to Caltrans San Diego, the two left lanes of the highway were blocked for more than four hours. Around 8:45 p.m., all lanes were fully reopened.
