Vehicle Strikes into Downtown Santa Barbara Building
SANTA BARBARA, CA (August 30, 2021) – Police are investigating a vehicle that struck a building on State Street on Wednesday evening.
Officers responded to the incident around 4:10 P.M. where a vehicle crashed on the side of the building on the 500 block of State Street.
Initially, multiple reports suggested that the accident was a hit-and-run although authorities stated otherwise.
Upon arrival, officers located the two drivers involved in the crash including a Mercedes resting beside Cruisery Restaurant.
In addition, investigators stated that a vehicle rear-ended a Mercedes while attempting to change lanes.
As a result, the building received significant structural damage due to the crash.
At the end, authorities questioned the involved driver at the scene while the driver of the Mercedes voluntarily went to the hospital.
The Santa Barbara County Officials are investigating the crash.
