Two Girls Hospitalized after Car Crashed into their House on 27th Street

LANCASTER, CA (August 26, 2021) – A 16-year-old girl and her 7-year-old sister were injured Monday morning after a DUI crash on 27th Street struck their home.

The accident happened around 1 a.m. Monday, Aug. 23, in the 44700 block of 27th Street East.

According to reports, the woman driver was driving northbound on 27th Street east when she lost control of her 2011 Nissan Altima near Weingart and crashed into the house’s bedroom.

Officers discovered the 16-year-old girl pinned between the car and a wall, telling crews she couldn’t feel her legs, while the younger girl suffered facial cuts and was treated.

Paramedics immediately took the 16-year-old girl to the hospital for treatment to her injuries. However, officials have not released her current condition.

Meanwhile, medics also took the driver to the hospital due to her ankle pain. Officers then arrested her under suspicion of DUI.

Investigators are trying to find out if speed also played a role. Once available, more details will be provided.

Driving under the influence is one of the most dangerous things you can do as a driver. If you find yourself unable to safely drive, you can always contact a Lyft or Uber instead.
