14-Year-Old Girl Fatally Struck in Collision near Burke Hill Drive

UKIAH, CA (August 12, 2021) – Early Saturday morning, Selena Clark-Quintero was killed in a high-speed accident on Highway 101.

Around 1:30 a.m., a Ukiah police officer attempted to pull over a 2017 Volkswagen Beetle. The 15-year-old driver then failed to yield and fled at speeds of about 100 miles per hour.

Shortly after, the Volkswagen veered off the highway and barreled past a stop sign. There, the vehicle became airborne and crashed into a tree before overturning and landing on its roof.

Paramedics arrived and attempted life-saving measures on the 14-year-old passenger who was suffering from critical wounds. Due to the extent of her condition, Selena Clark-Quintero was later pronounced dead on scene.

Meanwhile, medics transported the 15-year-old driver to UCSF with serious injuries. They also took a 13-year-old passenger to Adventist Health Ukiah Valley.

Investigators later determined that the deceased victim was not wearing a seat belt during the incident.

At this time, authorities are unsure as to whether or not impairment played a factor.

We would like to offer our heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Selena Clark-Quintero during this devastating time.
