Brothers Pronounced Dead after Wrong Way Collision near Moapa
LAS VEGAS, NV (August 6, 2021) – Monday night, Javarius Barfield, and Chase Fernandez, were killed in a wrong-way crash on Interstate 15.
According to the NHP, the wrong-way driver was driving south in the northbound lanes of I-15. However, further events leading up to the collision remain unclear.
The Clark County coroner’s office identified the deceased victims as 8-year-old Chase Fernandez, of Lawrenceville, Georgia, as well as 19-year-old Javarius Barfield.
Investigators say both victims died of blunt force trauma. Authorities did not reveal information about the wrong-way driver’s identity.
Police did not release any additional information at this time. However, officers believe that intoxication played a factor.
