5 Freeway Collision near Hooker Creek Road Leaves Two Hospitalized
COTTONWOOD, CA (August 3, 2021) – A multi-car crash on the 5 Freeway left Joseph Dalessia and Elton James Spain injured, CHP said.
The incident occurred last Tuesday (July 27) around 8:15 p.m., near Hooker Creek Road just outside Cottonwood.
Upon further investigation, police determined that Dalessia was driving a 2014 Dodge Ram in a reckless manner.
As a result, Dalessia rear-ended a Kenworth semi-truck attached to a trailer. The semi-truck was driven by 59-year-old Troy Lynn Tempest, of Washington.
Subsequently, the Dodge continued to drive forward until it came to rest in the left lane of the road.
Eventually, responders arrived and transported 56-year-old Joseph Dalessia, of Corona and his passenger, Elton Spain of Burney, to Mercy Medical Center.
At this time, it remains unclear if Tempest sustained injuries from the crash.
The CHP is working to identify the circumstances surrounding the incident.
