61-Year-Old Man Dead after Hit-and-Run Crash; Suspect Arrested
WOODLAND, CA (July 30, 2021) – Friday morning, a 61-year-old man was killed, and Mario Lopez was arrested after a hit-and-run crash.
The crash took place around 8:50 a.m., in the area of Tide Court and Pioneer Avenue. Dispatchers arrived shortly after.
According to police, witnesses reported a suspicious car along the 1600 block of Gillette Drive, near East Gum Avenue. Upon arrival, officers discovered the victim of the hit-and-run accident.
Due to the extent of injuries sustained, the 61-year-old male victim was later pronounced dead.
Moreover, the driver of the vehicle that struck him, Mario Lopez, was arrested and put into the Yolo County Jail.
Additionally, he is charged with murder, hit-and-run resulting in death, driving under the influence with an enhancement, and driving with a suspended license.
