66-Year-Old Rider Dies in Fatal Motorcycle Crash on Cypress Avenue
REDDING, CA (June 29, 2021) – A 66-year-old man tragically died Thursday afternoon after a motorcycle crash on Cypress Avenue.
The accident happened just after 2:00 p.m., on June 24. Dispatchers arrived to the area on E. Cypress Avenue near Bechellie Lane.
According to police, a Penske truck and a motorcycle were traveling west on Cypress Avenue when the motorcyclist attempted to pass the truck in the center turn lane. Meanwhile the truck was turning and the rider struck the driver’s side of the truck.
As a result, the motorcycle rider became trapped underneath the truck. The truck then dragged the motorcycle into the parking lot, where it caught fire.
Paramedics rushed the rider to a hospital where he later died. Authorities only described the deceased victim as a 66-year-old man from Redding.
The incident is currently being investigated by the Redding Police Department.
