3 Dead, 6 Hurt after Fatal Bus Accident on 7th Avenue [Phoenix, AZ]
Two Critically Injured, 3 Dead after Phoenix Crash on Missouri Avenue
PHOENIX, AZ (June 15, 2021) – Late Friday afternoon, three people died and six were hurt after a fatal bus accident on 7th Avenue.
Officers first heard about a stolen vehicle in the area around 3:47 p.m. According to reports, 33-year-old Raymond Montgomery had stolen a dark blue 2010 Cadillac SRX.
The Cadillac was traveling east on Missouri Avenue at nearly 100 mph. The driver then ran a red light at 7th Avenue.
There, he crashed into a southbound 1989 white Honda Civic, driven by 45-year-old Courtney Lonergan.
The impact pushed the Honda into a 2019 Dodge Ram pickup-truck, which was occupied by a 38-year-old man. The Dodge then struck a city bus that was also heading north, driven by a 59-year-old man with two adult passengers.
Then, Montgomery continued heading east before hitting a pedestrian who was crossing Missouri Avenue inside the crosswalk on the east side of 7th Avenue.
The female pedestrian was later taken to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Raymond Montgomery then struck a Chevrolet Malibu that was waiting at a red light. The two women inside the Chevy were unharmed.
Inside the Honda was Lonergan’s son, 18-year-old Ali Geer, and his 16-year-old daughter Almira Geer who both died at the scene.
At this time, police say both impairment, marijuana, PCP, and speed were factors that contributed to the collision.
Montgomery was later released from the hospital. He currently faces three counts of first-degree murder.
We would like to extend our sincere condolences to the family and friends of the deceased victims during this tragic time.
