Two Men Flee DUI Crash on Camino El Estero in Monterey
MONTEREY, CA (June 11, 2021) – Authorities arrested 18-year-old Marcelo Muñoz Sixto after a DUI accident on Del Monte Avenue on Sunday.
Officers responded to the scene around 7:30 p.m., near Del Monte and Camino El Estero. Emergency responders discovered three vehicles upon arrival.
Investigators later determined that the passengers fled the scene following the crash. Eventually, the officers found the men in an area surrounding Pearl and Cortez.
Authorities transported them to a local hospital where they received medical clearance and were booked. Officers arrested Sixto with DUI causing bodily injury and other related charges.
Investigators say Sixto was driving his vehicle at three times the blood alcohol limit allowed in California. Meanwhile, Fidencio Lopez-Daniel was also arrested for public intoxication.
They were both later transported to Monterey County Jail. Marcelo Muñoz Sixto had bail set at $35,000, while Lopez-Daniel was released with a citation.
