Hit-And-Run Driver Arrested after Causing One Fatality in Moreno Valley
MORENO VALLEY, CA (June 4, 2021) – Authorities arrested Jamal McCoy after fleeing from a crash that killed 1 person on Tuesday evening, May 25.
The incident occurred around 11:47 p.m., at the intersection of Iris Avenue and Camino Flores. According to reports, a Toyota Camry and a BMW 325i were involved in the crash.
Crews eventually located the Camry on fire with an unresponsive person inside. Immediately, fire crews were called to the scene to extinguish the fire.
Investigators later discovered that the Camry ran through a red light on Camino Flores. Meanwhile, the BMW was turning left onto Iris Avenue from Camino Flores.
As a result, the BMW struck the driver’s side of the Camry.
The impact caused the Toyota to careen into a light pole and consequently burst into flames. The driver of the BMW fled north on Camino Flores.
Due to the impact of the crash, the driver of the Camry was pronounced dead at the scene. In addition, deputies arrested 21-year-old Jamal McCoy on suspicion of felony hit and run.
