41-Year-old Woman Killed in Suspected DUI Crash on Tower Road
ALBUQUERQUE, NM (June 1, 2021) – 41-year-old Janell Katesigwa died Sunday morning in a suspected DUI crash on Unser Boulevard.
The tragic accident happened around 5:00 a.m., on May 23. Crews arrived on the Unser Boulevard & Tower Road intersection shortly after.
According to officials, a suspected drunk driver ran a red light and crashed into Janelle’s vehicle.
Janell was killed at the scene as a result of the collision.
Meanwhile, the driver of the other vehicle was discovered to be intoxicated and was taken to the hospital. According to the police report, the driver told officers she had a few shots before becoming unresponsive.
The family of Janell Katesigwa made a GoFundMe account to help for her burial expenses.
APD stated that charges are pending at this time. However, further investigation is underway.
