50-Year-Old Teacher Killed in Pedestrian Accident on Interstate 80
RENO, NV (May 11, 2021) – Stephen Rice, a high school teacher at McQueen High School, lost his life Tuesday morning in a pedestrian crash on Interstate 80.
The fatal crash occurred around 7:19 on the morning of May 4, on I-80 near Mogul Road.
According to NHP, Rice was walking in the right travel lane on the eastbound side of the highway.
Simultaneously, an eastbound semi-tractor-trailer towing doubles in the right travel lane swerved into the left lane to avoid colliding with Rice. However, the front of the semi-truck struck the man.
Due to the extent of his condition, Rice was pronounced dead at the scene.
Meanwhile, officials did not determine why the teacher was walking on the freeway. Although, an active investigation is currently underway.
Furthermore, a GoFundMe page was created to help the family of Mr. Rice.
