Selina Granados and John Canavan Injured in Motorcycle Accident on Highway 49 [Coulterville, CA]
Two Motorists Hurt in Accident near Schilling Road in Coulterville
COULTERVILLE, CA (April 27, 2021) – Selina Granados and John Canavan were injured in a motorcycle accident on Highway 49, on Monday afternoon.
The accident happened around 2:10 p.m., on Highway 49. Emergency crews arrived just north of Schilling Road.
Officers say 37-year-old Granados of Merced, was riding a northbound 2019 Honda motorcycle while Canavan, 59, was riding a southbound 2018 dual-sport BMW motorcycle.
Investigators say the motorists were traveling around 30-35 miles per hour at the time.
While Granados was maneuvering a curve in the road she drifted over the double-yellow lines, directly into the path of Canavan. As a result, the motorcycles collided head-on.
Due to the impact of the crash, both motorists were ejected from their bike onto the road.
Medics arrived and airlifted Granados and Canavan to nearby hospitals for further treatment.
Reports indicate that both motorists were wearing their helmets, and alcohol or drugs did not play a factor.
